The Fryer Engine

We could tell you that The Fryer Engine was born from a passion to share a secret recipe handed down by countless generations of enlightened druids from the Lilliput mountains.......

But no... we're just two middle aged ordinaries that stumbled across an amazing vehicle and realised she was a ticket to a life of festival fun. We were living the dream…..and then……. Covid!
With festivals cancelled we have brought our festival food to your door. Based at The Windmill Pub in Hoo we offer a collection and delivery service to Medway homes 7 days a week.

‘Bella’ is a 1975 Mercedes-Benz ‘Kurzhauber’ (short nose) fire engine that we converted into a food truck in 2016. She is partnered by ‘BabyBelle’ our 1983 Mercedes-Benz 608D who serves as our trusty support vehicle. And lastly we have ‘WOMAP’ (Weapon Of Mass Preparation) who is a 6m long kitchen trailer that stands high out of the mud during a great British summer!

The Fryer Engine’s ethos is summed up by the word ‘quality’. The events that we attend, our staff , vehicles, ingredients (and consequently) food are the best that we can achieve. We passionately believe in providing a first class experience to our customers and are rewarded with their repeat business as they sample our fine festival food.

Fuel your festival fun

Ever tried a battered chip? They taste better than they sound…..crunchy on the outside with a deliciously moist centre. We make them from locally sourced fresh potatoes, peel, chip and batter them on site and then fry in rapeseed oil. They’re fresh, filling and fagic……mucking fagic!

Reducing our carbon footprint is important to us. To that end all our packaging is recyclable and compostable. Most importantly we rarely have to buy any dirty diesel. We run both the fire engines on the waste oil from our fryers that we change every day solving the problem of diesel consumption and waste oil collection all at once. We feel good about that and hope you will too.
